Cookie Policy
This page explains which cookies (and similar technologies like localStorage) we use on moovedin.com, why, and how you can control them.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Cookies let a site remember things between page loads — your preferences, whether you're logged in, and so on. "Similar technologies" like localStorage do the same job; we treat them the same way in this policy.
2. The categories we use
Essential
Required for the site to work. These remember your cookie choices and keep forms working. They're always on — without them the site doesn't function. No consent needed under UK PECR.
- mv_consent_v1 (localStorage) — stores your cookie preferences. Kept for 12 months.
- Browser storage — alongside cookies, we store a small amount of information in your browser so the site works: your cookie choices, your basket, and — if you use the scorecard — the answers you have given so you do not lose them if the page reloads. Scorecard answers are automatically removed after 24 hours, or as soon as you complete your order.
Analytics — off by default
Only load if you've accepted analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation to understand which pages are useful and where people get stuck.
- _ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics 4) — distinguishes visitors. Kept for up to 13 months.
Marketing — off by default
Only load if you've accepted marketing cookies. These cookies let us measure whether our advertising works, and show our ads to people who have visited the site. We use the Meta Pixel, which powers advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
If you accept marketing cookies, the Pixel sets _fbp, a first-party cookie that identifies your browser to Meta for 90 days. If you arrived here by clicking one of our ads, it also sets _fbc, which records which ad you came from and lasts up to two years. It then tells Meta which pages you view on this site, and it may send Meta details you type into forms here — including your email address — scrambled into a hashed form. Hashing means Meta does not see the address itself, but it can still match it to a Meta account, so we treat it as personal information.
None of this happens unless you accept marketing cookies. If you later turn them off, we stop sending anything to Meta. Cookies already stored on your device stay until they expire or you clear them in your browser.
3. Third-party cookies
When you accept analytics, Google sets cookies on its own domain to track visits across our site. We've configured GA4 to anonymise IP addresses and not to share data for Google's advertising purposes.
Meta also sets cookies on its own domain when the Pixel is active. Meta is responsible for what it does with that information, under its own terms. You can control Meta's advertising settings from within your Facebook or Instagram account.
4. Changing your mind
You can change your cookie preferences any time using the Cookie preferences link in the site footer, or by clearing your browser's site data for moovedin.com. You can also block cookies entirely in your browser settings — bear in mind that may stop some bits of the site working.
