Two brothers. One job: get your UK move right.

What I do

I'm the person on the ground for international professionals and families moving to the UK for work. Most have a corporate package behind them. Most have never rented in the UK and don't know how Right to Rent, referencing, deposits or tenancies work here. My job is to make the move land without them having to become an expert in any of it.

In practice that means home search and accompanied viewings, area orientation, negotiating rent and terms with agents and landlords, offers and referencing, tenancy agreement review, check-in and inventory, settling in (utilities, council tax, banking, GP registration), interim inspections, deposit negotiation at the end of a tenancy, and departure coordination. In my consultancy work, school search goes to a specialist partner.

Who I work with

Instructions come through relocation management companies rather than direct from employers. I'm currently active with Dwellworks, SIRVA, Cartus, Sterling Lexicon, K2 Corporate Mobility, Santa Fe Relocation, Weichert, Hampton Relocation, TTH Curzon, Clearview Relocation, Corporate Care and PerchPeek. Each has its own process, vendor onboarding and reporting, so I'm used to fitting into someone else's system and getting it right first time.

Clients are engineers, procurement and finance professionals, and people in aerospace, energy, pharmaceuticals and defence. Single professionals wanting a city-centre build-to-rent flat through to families needing four bedrooms, a garden, good schools and two dogs accounted for.

Qualifications

Northbound Property, my Manchester lettings and consultancy business, should stand on formal credentials as well as experience.

Adrian is my brother, and he's an educator rather than a property person. That's deliberate.

He has made the international move himself several times, usually with a school package and not much else. His professional skill is turning complicated things into structured material people can follow. That is the product half of Moovedin, and it's why every schooling section is his.

Adrian Duckett is Moovedin's schooling specialist. He has spent 16 years in schools, 12 of them international: Outwood Grange in Wakefield, then the British International School Hanoi, where he ran the IB programme, then Assistant Head at Uptown International School in Dubai. He is now Deputy Head of School at an international school in Dubai.
