West Bridgford is the family suburb I recommend most often around Nottingham. It is just across the Trent from the city, it has Central Avenue as a proper village centre with cafes, restaurants and the shops you need, it has the cricket ground and the football grounds on its doorstep, and it has some of the most sought after state schools in the county, which is why most families end up here.

It is in Rushcliffe, not Nottingham, which means a different council, different council tax and a different school admissions authority. The figures on this page are Rushcliffe’s.

The housing is mostly Victorian and Edwardian semis and terraces near the centre, with 1930s semis and bigger detached houses further out. Gardens are normal and driveways are common on the later streets.

It is the most expensive of the three and good houses go within days.
