Cherry Hinton is the value option of the three, and in Cambridge terms that means a house with a garden at a price that would be ordinary anywhere else. It is three miles south east of the centre, it has a village high street, a big park with Cherry Hinton Hall, and it is next door to the Biomedical Campus, which is why most of the people I place at Addenbrooke’s and AstraZeneca end up here.
The housing is mostly 1930s to 1970s semis and terraces with gardens and driveways, plus a few older cottages near the high street and newer developments on the edges. It suits couples and families who want space and a short commute rather than a postcode.
The trade-off is the centre. It is twenty five minutes by bike or half an hour by bus, which for most people here is fine because they are not going to the centre for work.
