Beeston is the value option of the three and the one I show to anyone whose job is at the university, the QMC or Boots, because all three are on its doorstep. It is three miles south west of the centre, it has a high street with a good mix of independents and the usual names, and the tram runs straight through it into the city in twenty minutes.
It is in Broxtowe, not Nottingham, so the council tax and the school admissions are Broxtowe’s, and the figures on this page reflect that.
The housing is mostly Victorian terraces and 1930s semis, with gardens on most and driveways on some. There are flats near the station and the high street, and a lot of student lets on the streets nearest the university, so ask who lives on the street.
For couples and young families who want a house, a garden and a ten minute journey to work, it is hard to beat for the money.
